Transportation for people with disabilities who do not drive is one of the greatest challenges to independent living. ETCIL provides travel training to individuals upon request.  Travel training teaches  how to use the transportation systems and apply for Paratransit when applicable. 

The following agencies provide ADA compliant transportation in the ETCIL service area…

Tyler Transit – a public bus system that provides regularly scheduled buses that travel  fixed routes around the city as well as ParaTransit which offers door-to door service within the city of Tyler for those individuals with a disability

    • that prevent them from using the fixed route
    • or who need to travel and the fixed route is not available

City of Longview Transit – a public bus system that provides regularly scheduled buses that travel  fixed routes around the city as well as demand response  which offers  services for medically - eligible individuals who are unable to ride the fixed route system.  Their telephone number is 903-753-2287 or visit their website at http://www.ci.longview.tx.us/services/longview_transit.html

 

Minibus – a nonprofit agency that contracts with the East Texas Council of Governments to provide public transportation in 14 East Texas counties  for areas outside of the city of Longview and Tyler.  Vehicles are wheelchair accessible.  Service is demand response and is curb to curb .Their telephone number is (800) 590-3371.  More information is available at www.etcog.org.1rg-.org800-59000-590-3371

 

Medicaid Transportation – This program is administered by the Texas Department of Transportation with a mission to provide categorically Medicaid eligible customers high-quality, non-emergency transportation services to authorized medical and dental care.
